There is no greater gift that can be bestowed upon a man than freedom. * * * In the end, there is but one absolute truth, and it is that there are NO absolute truths! * * * No condemnation on earth can bind the soul of man! * * * There can be no social or political change without a movement of spirit. Revolution always brings us back to where we started. When there is a widespread evolution of spirit, or soul, political and social changes follow of necessity. If you would make this world a better place, the only way to do so, is to begin within yourself. As you change yourself, your universe changes to accomodate you. * * * Only humans are capable of evil or good. Everything else simply obeys its nature.

I guess this is the place where I'm supposed to sell myself to you. To tell you what a brilliant artist, musician and songwriter I am. To describe the various projects on this website in glowing superlative terms. Caahhchhh! That's the sound of me gagging. I hate it when people insult my intelligence, so I'm not going to destroy what could be a beautiful relationship by insulting yours. I will, below, describe a few of the highlights you might like to check out, but I'll leave you to decide for yourself wether you think they're any good or not. Personally, I don't know that I'm even capable of trusting my own judgement anyway. I'm beginning to realize I've spent most of my life in a self induced delusion. The only difference between me and the homeless guy wandering about muttering to himself is that I've been fortunate enough to have a lot of support from people who really love me. So I've managed to fashion my delusions into stories, images and songs. If I couldn't play guitar and write songs, I'd have killed myself years ago. Creation, for me, is a compulsion. I create that I may live. Or is it, I live that I might create? Honestly, when I listen to my songs or look at some of my art works, I can't decide wether I've got talent or not. Sure, people have always told me I have, and sometimes I've believed it myself. But then I listen to one of my favourite songs - When September Ends or Good Riddance by Greenday, Hey There Delilah by the Plain White T's, Driftwood by Travis, High And Dry by Radiohead or New Slang by The Shins - or I see an amazing painting by Turner, Van Gough, Magritte, Chagall, Todd Schorr or Brian Froud and I just think, "Who the hell am I trying to kid?!!!" And I get all depressed and vow never to write another song or paint another painting. But then I get an idea and I can't help myself. So I say to myself, "Look Emanuel, just because you're not as talented as the people you look up to, doesn't mean you should just give up! You'd never advise anyone else to give up, would you? No of course you wouldn't. Instead, try harder! And besides, someone else might love one of your songs or paintings or stories, might be as touched by them as you are by those that move you. You're far too close to your own work to pass objective judgement on it". Then I think, "But I'm getting older and it's not like I'm ever going to get a recording deal with Sony or EMI or Virgin now, even if I suddenly managed to pen the most haunting, soulful song ever written!" But I guess that doesn't matter either. Or rather, it doesn't matter enough to stop me dead. I guess only death itself can do that. And who needs Sony or EMI or Virgin anyway. We live in a new world where artists and musicians can post their work on the net and (at least potentially) the whole world is their audience. So that's what Mr E World is. A place for me to put my creations; songs, stories, pictures and essays for all the world to hear, read and see (should anybody actually want to!). I don't need to judge them or assess them. I'll leave that to you. If you can be bothered. Hopefully instead you'll just enjoy them. Ok. Glad that's out of the way. So now, this is the bit where I name a few highlights and tell you where to find them. There are five albums in the music section. In chronological order they are...>
Mr E and the Children of Providence My favourites are "Freak from the streets" and "Songs 4 a Girl". Introducing Mr E and the children of Providence is a compilation of songs from the other four albums with a couple of unreleased songs thrown in, partly for good measure and partly because, although they didn't fit on any of the other albums, I think they're good songs and I'd like for people to hear them. Information, art work, lyrics and song samples for all the albums can be found in MUSIC. There are four stories in the STORIES section. "For the Name of the Wizard" is a fairy tale in pictures and verse. Both "The rise and fall of the Funky Monkeys" and "Confessions of a busker" are serials (perhaps one day, should I ever get around to finishing them, I might get to publish them as novels. We'll see... ) "Confessions of a busker", as the name implies is my own life's story, or as much of it as I've yet managed to write down. There are currently eleven exhibitions in the art gallery. I have been very much influenced by many and diverse artistic movements and artists. These are all reflected in my artwork which is, as a result very eclectic. Wether it's any good or not is, as I said before, something I must leave for you to decide for yourself. My own personal favourite is YETZIRAH. Should you want to know a bit more about me, or this website please click on WHO IS Mr E? or INTERVIEWS. THOUGHTS is my blog. There are a few essays on different subjects there. If you're looking for something in particular, there's a search engine, and if you'd like to make any comments at all, these can be posted on the FEEDBACK page. SHOP, of course, is where you go if you either want to buy something (CDs, prints, books, badges, T shirts etc) or just to have a look at what's available. What I would do with any money I might make from this site is discussed on THE VILLAGE page in WHO IS Mr E?
It's been a long, mostly fun but sometimes very difficult and challenging ride, getting the website to this stage. All I can say now is, I hope you enjoy exploring it. It is a very large site with a huge amount of work on it, so please don't feel daunted. It wasn't meant to be fully explored in just an hour or two. I hope instead, to build something that people will come back to again and again. I'd like to flatter myself by believing there are no other sites in existence quite like it. All the work on it is my own, and for it all, I must accept full resposibility. Any faults or shortcomings are entirely my own. One final thing. I spoke before about building this site. I speak loosely. I cannot myself read HTML, so I could never build a website, wether it's made of over a thousand pages (as this one is) or a single one. Although all the work and the overall design of Mr E World is my own, it has been labouriously and lovingly put together by my very good friend Dr. G. He is a self taught computer wiz and the best friend a guy could ever hope for. The sheer number of hours he has spent, not only making this dream a reality for me but listening to my woes along the way, could never be counted. To him I shall be eternally grateful.
